Grand Teton (in the spring)

NATIONAL PARK

note: I have had the great fortune to visit The Tetons twice!  Check this post out for a completely different experience of Grand Teton (in the fall).

Just as in Yellowstone, this was my second time visiting Grand Teton and my sister, Anna’s, first.  In just a few month’s time from August to May, and this place was almost completely shut down to vehicular travel!  Sadly, we spent most of our day driving to the south to enter the park from Jackson as the north part (including Teton Park Road) was completely closed!  See highlighted in green below for what was open (Jackson to Moran).

We relished the views of the Continental Divide as once we were in the park, that was it of any view.

But, due to our NPS.gov research, we knew what to expect and marveled even more at any animal’s ability to make this park their home.  We spent a great deal of time eyeing this black bear (yes, color can be misleading).  We knew it wasn’t a grizzly because it didn’t have the distinctive shoulder hump, had a straight face profile and ears were tall and pointed.

So while we didn’t get to do any hikes or marvel at the dramatic range, we got to wonder at the mystery shrouded in the clouds and long to come back another day.
